How to Get There

The Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office is at 171 Moo 6, Noen Phra, on the western edge of Rayong city, just off Sukhumvit Road (Highway 3) near the Rayong bypass. FROM RAYONG CITY CENTRE: Head west on Sukhumvit Road towards Map Ta Phut; the turn is a few minutes out of the centre — the office's own directions run from the bypass road near Lotus Go Fresh Rayong Town onto Sukhumvit Road, then left again for about 1.8 km to the office. FROM MAP TA PHUT: Drive east on Sukhumvit Road towards Rayong city, 15-20 minutes. FROM BAN CHANG / U-TAPAO: About 25 km east along Sukhumvit Road, 30-40 minutes. FROM PATTAYA: Motorway 7 to Highway 36 into Rayong, or Sukhumvit Road (Highway 3) via Sattahip and Ban Chang — roughly 60-70 km, about an hour. FROM BAN PHE (KOH SAMET FERRY): Around 20 km west along Sukhumvit Road, 25-30 minutes. BY GRAB/TAXI: Search 'สำนักงานขนส่งจังหวัดระยอง' or 'Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office'. Tell a driver 'Kor Sor Lor Rayong' (ขนส่ง ระยอง). LANDMARK: the Rayong bypass and Sukhumvit Road junction on the west side of the city.

Tips for This Office

This is the provincial headquarters — the office map apps and Google list as 'Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office' or 'Rayong Provincial Transport Office' (สำนักงานขนส่งจังหวัดระยอง). It sits at Noen Phra on the western side of Rayong city, just off Sukhumvit Road near the bypass — not in Ban Chang.

There is no DLT branch in Ban Chang. Ban Chang and U-Tapao residents drive about 25 km east along Sukhumvit Road to this office, or north-west to the Pattaya (Bang Lamung) branch — pick whichever is closer to you.

The east of the province has its own branch: Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office, Klaeng Branch, 100 Map Yai Road, Thang Kwian, Klaeng 21110, phone 038-671-904. If you live in Klaeng, Wang Chan or Khao Chamao, go there instead.

The office serves the Eastern Seaboard industrial corridor — Map Ta Phut, IRPC, Hemaraj/WHA and the Amata-Rayong estates — so counter staff see foreign applicants of many nationalities every day, including the large Japanese community.

The English-language written test is available; a Japanese-language test is commonly offered here because of the Japanese workforce — confirm at registration.

It is far less crowded than Bangkok or Pattaya. Mid-week mornings are quietest; Monday mornings and the day after a public holiday are busiest.

Book through DLT Smart Queue if you can — booked applicants are served first, and it removes the risk of arriving to find the day's new-licence slots gone.

Get your medical certificate before you come — any clinic or Rayong Hospital issues it — and bring copies of your passport, visa page and entry stamp.

Dress modestly — no sleeveless tops, very short shorts or flip-flops.

Koh Samet residents: take the ferry to Ban Phe, then it is roughly 20 km / 25-30 minutes west along Sukhumvit Road into Rayong city to the office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office?
At 171 Moo 6, Noen Phra, Mueang Rayong 21150 — on the western edge of Rayong city just off Sukhumvit Road, near the Rayong bypass. Phone 038-616-792. It is the provincial headquarters and the office most foreigners in Rayong use.
Is there a DLT office in Ban Chang?
No. Ban Chang and U-Tapao residents use either this office (about 25 km east) or the Pattaya branch at Bang Lamung to the north-west. For a driving licence you can choose either; for vehicle registration of a Rayong-plated vehicle, come here.
Is there a Klaeng branch?
Yes. Rayong Provincial Land Transport Office, Klaeng Branch, 100 Map Yai Road, Thang Kwian, Klaeng 21110, phone 038-671-904. It covers the eastern districts — Klaeng, Wang Chan and Khao Chamao — and is the closer office if you live out that way.
Is this office convenient for Map Ta Phut workers?
Yes. It is 15-20 minutes east of the Map Ta Phut industrial estate along Sukhumvit Road, and it is the main DLT for workers at Map Ta Phut, IRPC and the surrounding industrial zones.
Can Koh Samet residents use this office?
Yes. Koh Samet is part of Rayong province. Take the ferry to Ban Phe, then drive about 20 km west into Rayong city — 25-30 minutes — to the office at Noen Phra.
Is the Japanese-language test available?
Commonly, yes — the Eastern Seaboard has a large Japanese community and this office is used to Japanese applicants. Confirm availability when you register; the English test is available as standard.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 16:30; closed weekends and Thai public holidays. New-licence queue numbers are limited, so arrive in the morning — an afternoon arrival usually means a second trip.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are accepted, but booking through DLT Smart Queue puts you ahead of the walk-in line and guarantees a slot. It is worth doing for a new licence or a conversion; renewals work fine as walk-ins.
